Birthday Girl
28 Has Arrived!
Being blessed to see another year feels so good, it really does. Celebrating my earth day means more than getting presents or having a party. It’s the one day a year where you get to truly celebrate being yourself, because there is no one like you. Realizing early on that individualism would always be my vibe, this is a day to let the universe connect with you. I have so many happy memories for my birthday I really do but in recent years that changed. I have pushed through some seriously intense struggles but that's the beauty in being a human. We all have journeys. Determined to be artistic, sophisticated, edgy, sexy, and ooze every bit of my Scorpio Goddess energy, I went for it! Working with Photographer Chris Jones and Stylist Vanessa Aranda, we decided to push and make my concept come to life. What can I say, I had an amazing team and they killed it. It’s always my intention to convey a vibe or let my art connect with you but from my perspective. Since moving to Dallas everyone here has always known me to have an afro because I started going natural right before I moved. Needless to say I needed a new look; fresh but still a natural flare. Seeing myself with straight hair after years of having the fro had me all nostalgic thinking back to roller wrap days. Now that I have my curls I wouldn't change them for the world. There’s something about being completely untamed and natural that just makes me feel free. So the straight hair was nice for the shoot but don't worry the fro is here to stay!
This year my birthday was beyond amazing and my friends really went all out to make sure I had what they would deem "a not boring birthday" lol My friend Nelli organized two surprise parties, not one but two! She made sure in both Dallas and New Orleans, since we would be home for the holidays that all my closest friends were in attendance. I'm not going to even lie, a girl was too hype when I walked in and saw she had all my favorite wing stop flavors (my friends know that food is the true way to my heart). Oh sweetie and in NOLA of course we had a gorgeous brunch in the Quarter and she had the second party that Saturday before we went out. The food was no disappointment there either hunty. We had homemade seafood pasta, Manchu fried chicken and tons of other delights. Everything was bomb and these losers planned this like a month in advance and usually you can't get anything past me. I'll eventually catch on. But they got me and I'm super happy to have amazing friends who are on a positive wavelength and are all about uplifting one another, I love you guys! So here is to being 28! I pray that I continue to grow and flourish and live a vibrant and happy life. I can already feel a change and 2018 is going to be amazing!
