Behind the Coat ... A Moment with Levenity
Where do I start?......I was in school, pursuing my fashion career and while I had already begun volunteering for large fashion events, working a full time job and finishing school, I was still taking on the challenge to further my career. I went to my college career opportunity website and there was a "WANTED" ad for an internship with a new, upcoming designer. Of course, I did my research and figured, '"why not give it a shot?'" I could go on forever but simply put, the designer, Venny, was sent to me by God. Like so many of my friends, it was destined in the stars for us to meet. I say that because a large part of our relationship is about the inspiration we bring one another. I won't say I am his muse, although that would be a great honor, I can say we artistically compliment each other and we are on the same frequency. I can articulate and translate his vision through my words and artistic direction. It's like our minds are in sync, our vibes and our spirits. So many times we have prayed together and relentlessly worked on the projects that one cannot help but feel we were meant to know each other. My boy is full blown Hatian with a edgy, city vibe and I love that! I totally 'goes hard' for his Caribbean culture. Together, we have been able to do some amazing work. I often find myself reminiscing on our journey and looking towards the future.
The latest and greatest Levenity collection was just released for the Fall/Winter 17' Season and let me say its' quite amazing. First we shot the look book and I was dying!!!!! I try my best, not saying I succeed, to not to bother Venny when I know he is working because I want his juices to flow and his work to be organic. So of course when he tells me its finished, I'm zooming over to see the collection! I never been so happy to pay for damn tolls. The first part of the project was the look book and it came out beautifully. I wanted to make sure that his message was heard but that the garments photographed for great marketing too. Nathan Paul was our onset photographer and he did a blow-out job. The images are vibrant and crisp while the garments are styled for an edgy sophisticated appeal. To me I have always felt the Levenity woman was strong, daring and edgy. She walks in the room oozing sophistication and class while screaming edgy rebel. Each time I style or model for Levenity that's the purpose I'm walking in. To bring that strength and fully embody what it means to be a that woman.
